    OUT-OF-NETWORK(OON) INSURANCE COVERAGE

If you are covered by a PPO insurance plan that I am not in network with-- and your plan has out-of-network(OON) benefits, you may be able to use these benefits to cover my therapy fees if you have met or do not have a deductible.

To find out if you have OON benefits and how you can access these benefits to cover therapy session fees, visit THRIZER-- the billing platform I use for private pay clients and clients using OON benefits.

  • Updated January 2024

I am currently seeing clients via tele-health only. We can work together virtually via a HIPPA secure video conferencing platform. Either over Google Meet or Doxy.me.

What You’ll Need For Telehealth Sessions:

For video conferencing therapy, all you would need is either a phone, tablet, or computer with a high speed internet connection and a webcam.

It is important that you find a safe, secure, and quiet space during sessions for the purposes of confidentiality (not conducting a motorized vehicle during sessions, in a crowded/public space, or with any other adult in the room with you who has not consented to participate in therapy with this practice).

Babies/toddlers are welcomed during your sessions.

More information and instructions about conducting therapy services via Telehealth will be discussed prior to our first initial therapy session.

Please Note: A common concern and question about sessions conducted over a video conferencing platform is that they may be recorded without the client’s expressed knowledge and consent. Please rest assured that sessions will NEVER be recorded without a client's expressed and documented signed consent.

  • No.

While my specialization is in working with birthing people or non birthing caregivers throughout the perinatal period, I also have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families throughout all of the stages of the lifespan and helping individuals address a variety of mental health issues.

  • I take an emotionally focused, attachment, & trauma informed approach to psychotherapy.

During psychotherapy sessions, you’ll be actively listened to, validated, and have the support of someone that will be fully present with you as you process challenging thoughts and feelings in the here and now.

You’ll be offered therapeutic resources, feedback, and tools that will allow you to use the new perspectives and reflections you discover in sessions to make concrete changes to your current pattern of behaviors and decision making outside of sessions--if you so choose to.

You will have the opportunity to gain and practice new tools during sessions that will allow you to reduce your distress, connect with your core authentic self, and increase your overall joy and confidence.

    DISCLAIMER

To be sure, you can experience positive outcomes by engaging in psychotherapy treatment.

However, you may not always feel “good” at every step of the process. You may experience distressing thoughts, memories, and emotions during and following therapeutic sessions. As a licensed mental health counselor, I am trained and ethically bound to ensure precautions are taken to address distress throughout treatment and minimize the risk of any short or long-term psychological harm related to a client's experienced distress.

Further, while experiencing distress may be a very normal, common, and at times a necessary part of psychotherapy treatment, it is important to be aware of this possibility before starting therapy.

It's also important to note that psychotherapy may not be the right treatment approach for you and, for a variety of reasons, may not work to help you overcome the challenges you're seeking treatment for.

Therefore, positive treatment outcomes can never be guaranteed.

  • Fears and concerns related to mental health diagnosis is common and it's valid that you may have them.

Typically, for clients receiving services in my practice--who are not using any health care plan to cover psychotherapy session fees/costs-- I am able to discuss with a client all of the factors (if any)-- in their specific case-- that may make a formal diagnosis helpful and/or desired and offer the option to include or omit a formal diagnosis in their record as part of this discussion.

Please also note, that in order to ensure I am providing the best evidenced based level of care+treatment, I will always add my diagnostic impressions to my client's record and keep a formal diagnosis in mind while creating a treatment plan for my clients, whether a final formal diagnosis is add to their record or not.

WHEN A FORMAL DIAGNOSIS IS REQUIRED

If you plan on using any kind of health plan to cover the costs of your treatment, including the use of out-of-network benefits, a formal diagnosis in your medical record and within each bill submitted to your health care insurance provider will be required to access coverage.

You may also want to include medication treatment and management as part of your treatment plan--provided by a Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. In this instance, a formal diagnosis is typically required as well.

  • No.

My specific license and scope of practice under Florida law would not allow me to prescribe any form of medication or provide medication management.

However, if medication seems to be a good option for you and you’d like to explore this option further, I will provide you with referrals to trained and qualified Psychiatrists who will be able to assess your specific treatment needs and prescribe medication accordingly.

You will still be able to continue psychotherapy with me while under the care of your psychiatrist for medication management.

  • The amount of sessions needed for any given individual to achieve set goals, decrease distress, and complete treatment is different for each client and depends on a variety of factors.

On average, it is likely that we may need to meet for at least 12-26 therapy sessions in order to make progress and achieve goals set at the start of treatment. However, this is by no means a guarantee and is only an estimate.

Luckily, the nature of therapy means that you are able to continue and stop therapeutic services at any time and for whatever reason, as this is a completely voluntary process. Some clients choose to pause treatment for a period of time and then return to therapy as needed to address new challenges/goals.

Change and healing is never linear.

  • Yes, of course!

Finding a therapist is like dating, you may have to do some trial runs with a few therapists before you find the one that’s right for you. It is likely that I’m not a good fit for you. That’s ok and you shouldn’t give up the search.

You are never obligated to continue psychotherapy with me or any therapist. It is completely voluntary and you can opt out if you wish at any time.

I always want what’s best for my clients and this includes feeling fully comfortable with the clinician they’re working with. If that clinician isn’t me, I want them to let me know right away and find the clinician who will be. They deserve it and so do you.
